A native of the Pacific Northwest Alex was born and raised in Beaverton, OR and enlisted in the military after high school in 2005. He served as a combat medic for 5 years and was deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan as a combat medic with the Marine Corps. His experience in the military inspired him to pursue a career in medicine and, after completing his enlistment, he moved on to college.

Alex completed a degree in general biology from the University of Maryland in 2014 where he met his wife and best friend, Megan. He then moved back to the Pacific Northwest where he completed his medical education at Oregon Health & Science University in 2018. After graduating from OHSU he moved to Washington and completed residency training at the SW Washington Medical Center in Vancouver.
