Yes, beginning with the formation of Kirkpatrick Family Care on January 1, 1996, the Civic Center clinic has been open every day---no exceptions.  We do this to make it feasible for those with daytime jobs to get care on weekends (for themselves or their elderly family members), and also to provide an alternative (for most conditions) to an expensive ER visit.  (generally, when we take care of an issue in the office, the cost will be 1/10 to 1/6 of the price of the ER visit (e.g. $100 in our office, and $600-1000 in the ER).

ER charges have to be higher because the doctors don't know your case and the ER building is extremely expensive to construct (earthquake standards) and maintain.  Further, ER physicians are allowed to bill for "new" patient status, which ads as much as $100 to the cost of the visit.  And you're more likely to get hospitalized if the new doc gets nervous kidneys from not knowing your background.  As you know, most people pay $700-800 deductible for being admitted.

Our weekend hours are 9-1 on Saturday and Noon -4 on Sundays, after church.   Christmas follows Sunday time, but other holidays are staffed 9-1.
